Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from Concord, CA are an energetic, dynamic, and enthusiastic group of 2nd graders that have a true desire to learn. Our one-of-a-kind school is newly reopened and just three years old. The Two Way Dual Immersion Spanish-English program provides students with Bilingualism and Biliteracy, Grade Level Academic Achievement, and Cross Cultural Competence, helping students reach their full potential.
My incredible 2nd graders are driven and excited to take on new challenges every day when they enter our classroom.
Each student is truly unique and learns best in their own individual way which motivates me to continue searching for the best methods and climates that work for my students. They are sincerely an extraordinary group of learners that continue to inspire me every day.
My Project
The product that I have selected holds a wide range of math materials that allow students to work with math in a hands-on manner. Giving students access to materials like these, provides more opportunity to understand as they explore math in a different way. These math materials will provide students with the opportunity to explore mathematics and the concepts behind every problem. For many students, math ends up becoming a subject that they despise because there is a lack of conceptual knowledge. Instead of believing that they can be good at math and deeply understand it, many students shut down and just say "I'm bad at math".
These math materials will allow my students to explore mathematics deeply and create another mean in which they can grasp the concepts.
These materials will help my students to change their negative mindset of "I can't do this" into a more positive mindset of "I can't do this yet." Every student deserves to have what they need to succeed in the classroom and I believe that these math materials will greatly benefit my students as they continue to develop and grow this year.
