Diversity. If I could sum up my students in one word, it would be diverse. I have students of various religions, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds coming to our high school from many different middle schools.
What they all have in common, though, is the desire to learn.
Their parents want the best for them and have chosen our school based on its academic rigor, great reputation, and variety of extracurricular clubs (over 100) from cultural to special interests to sports. My classes include the Advanced Placement students as well as those who want to challenge themselves in a rigorous college-prep course structured to advance their math skills to put them on the path to AP Calculus or AP Statistics.
My Project
Making math interactive through interactive notebooks and whiteboard work help cement knowledge and increase engagement. Students learn best by doing math and consolidating material into meaningful notes. To do these types of activities, abundant supplies of markers and glue sticks are needed. Also, as my smart board ages, I need a projector to reliably project content for my students. Given these materials, over 150 students will be able to have a more interactive and fun math classroom experience. Thanks for your help in moving me a step closer to achieving this!
