Making Math Memorable with Manipulatives!

My Project

My students are fun-loving, kind, and humble. They respond well to small group learning or individualized instruction. I work with many different kinds of learners in grades 1-5 throughout the school day as a math interventionist. Oftentimes, the resources on hand at the school site do not accurately fit their learning needs. By having the math manipulatives in this DonorsChoose project, I will have individualized instructional resources, such as place value boards for learning base ten. These are engaging and specifically targeted to teach the deficit skills the student is presenting. Primarily in math, students need more practice to develop mathematical concepts and number sense. Visuals and hands-on activities will help the students master the content and reach grade-level goals. The number rockets assist as visuals for learning numbers 1-20. The matchup card puzzles offer hands-on base ten and number learning to 100. The addition/base ten puzzles benefit those learning to add. The toolboxes are wonderful for small group practice and understanding as students will have tools at their fingertips.
