My students have a passion for learning new things. These materials will help them develop their comprehension of important concepts by making math come to life. When students can "touch" math it makes the concepts easier to understand and apply. These tools, such as the algebra tiles, will allow students to develop a deep understanding of concepts that they will need to apply not only in 7th grade but for the rest of their lives.
Communication is also crucial to success in mathematics.
It allows students to share ideas, critique the work of their peers and clarify misconceptions. Having materials such as post-its and dry erase materials promote active and flexible learning. Students can use these tools to write their ideas or support their verbal explanations with a model.
My goal is to provide a productive learning environment by engaging my students through hands on lessons and meaningful discussion. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to make this happen!
