My students need a Math Literature Collection and a Math and Literature Resource Book.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Stokes's classroom raised $160
This project is fully funded
Hi there! I am a sixth year teacher at a low-income school in North Carolina. I have a diverse math class of 24 fourth-grade students. They are all certified as gifted, and they enjoy learning. Many of them have told me that math is their favorite subject.
I do my best to ensure that my students fully understand the concepts that I teach in math. It is so exciting to see their eyes light up when they develop a new understanding on a topic, and I love their enthusiasm when we have class discussions or play math games. However, one area that we are lacking in is literary resources. There are numerous books out there that feature important math concepts, but these unfortunately are not part of my class library. The few available in the school library are often not grade-appropriate for my students.
In order to provide a new, exciting way to help my students understand math concepts on a deeper level, I am asking for a set of ten picture books featuring math concepts. These books will capture my students' interest, and integrate math AND literature in a creative way. They also provide examples of how math is useful in real life, which makes our lessons so much more meaningful to my students. The books come with a teacher resource book, which will help me develop fun and educational follow-up lessons and activities.
Your help will ensure that my students maintain their high motivation when it comes to math. Most of them come from a lower-income background, so they often rely on what is available at school. These books will be used in school and be made available for check-out, so they will make a huge difference in their education. Thank you so much for your consideration!
