My Students
Reading and math are essential to a good education. But, what most people don't know, is that hand-in-hand they create a powerful force for student learning.
I am a 3rd grade teacher in a high poverty school in the northwest.
Over 80% of our students are below the poverty line. There is also a wide range of diversity in our classroom, with 7 different native languages being spoken by all of the students. Despite the challenges of their home lives, all of the students are kind, hard-working, and they have a tremendous desire to learn.
My Project
I am requesting 31 different math literature books to help tie reading into my math curriculum. These books cover a wide range of topics from multiplication to probability to fractions. By reading aloud these books during our different math units, I will be able to keep my students engaged and motivated during math time. These books will also help them to understand and learn new math concepts by providing them with examples and teaching them math vocabulary.
By making a donation to this project, you will help my 3rd graders to build both math and literacy skills.
These books help link math and literature to make learning about math fun and understandable. Please help fill our classroom with these amazing books to make math meaningful for my students.
