This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My first graders are eager six and seven year olds that come to school ready to learn all they can. Math is an area of concern across our district and every classroom teacher is trying their best to raise the rigor and engagement in their classrooms.

Teaching the base ten number system is essential for developing an understanding of different concepts like place value, and addition and subtraction of whole numbers.

The students will use the requested materials to make abstract math more concrete, build on their mathematical knowledge and practice number sense skills with hands-on materials.
