My Students

My 6th grader students are an amazing group of learners who have really pushed themselves during a tough year of virtual and hybrid learning.

My students persevered through the challenges of virtual, hybrid, and in person with covid restrictions.

In my math classroom, students engage in mathematics that pushes them to make sense of math, problem solve, reason and think critically. They take on challenges, and I am proud to teach them and watch them grow.

My Project

It has been a challenging school year and a half as we have navigated teaching and learning through Covid times. Many of the restrictions that were put in place made it more challenging for all students to truly engage in their learning, collaborate and work on hands on activities. We did our best to still make learning fun and engaging, but it wasn't the same.

Students deserve to have a fun, engaging, meaningful year in math class.

I want to create lessons and activities this year that can get students talking, working together, and having fun while exploring and mastering the 6th grade math topics.

These materials will help me create engaging activities and tasks for my 6th grade mathematicians. Whiteboards and markers will allow students to work together and see each other's thinking. Students love working on whiteboards in class, so it's important to have enough whiteboards and markers for everyone. Math manipulatives and materials will help make lessons hands on and engaging, and the storage bins and containers will help keep materials organized. Poster board, cardstock, and markers will help students work through engaging tasks in new and unique ways. Math games will allow students to practice their math skills while having fun. Sometimes, students benefit from having alternative seating and the foldable chairs will help engage students who like to work in spots other than their desks. My hope is for all of my students to have a wonderful year in math!
