Making Math Easier to Understand

My eager 1st grade students need 9 resources for math instruction, including hands-on listening centers, writing numbers cards, dry erase markers, privacy partitions, attribute and pattern block cards, geometry and number operation kits and a set of storage trays.

This project is fully funded

I teach first grade in a public school in NC. My students are on various ability levels that include below average, average and above average. I strive daily to provide instruction to assist my students with understanding basic math skills.

Since my students are on various levels with their math skills, I do not have the necessary supplies to help them achieve to the best of their ability. All of my students are eager and want to learn but I just need some help with getting the tools to help them understand what I am trying to teach them. This is where your help is needed!

I have found several supplies that my first graders will LOVE to use during math lessons. The printing numbers cards and dry erase markers will help students learn how to form numbers correctly. The privacy partitions will allow me to truly know what students can do on their own since they won't be able to "peek" at their neighbors work. The hands-on listening centers will enable students to hear directions and use manipulative to figure out the answer to a problem. The attribute and pattern block cards will help students "see" the different shapes and learn how to manipulate them. The geometry and number operation kits will allow hands-on tools to see and help work through math problems. Finally the storage trays will hold group supplies. All of these items I just know will help each student have a better understanding while learning, reviewing and doing math.

If you would like to help my first graders have a deeper understanding of the basic math skills, this is the project for you! If first graders have a solid foundation with math, they are better prepared to continue their math learning in 2nd grade and in the future successfully! Thank you for reading my proposal.
