This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I want my students to be confident, creative thinkers and at their grade level in math (by the end of the year or sooner!). I want students to be able to show their thinking and reasoning by using this medium. Students will be able to compare their work visually and learn from their peers.

My students are diverse, smart, enthusiastic and friendly.

The school that I work at (and they attend) is a community of faculty, staff and teachers that support one another and the students we all serve. We are located on the South side of Chicago in a largely Hispanic populated neighborhood. Our school is quite large with over 1600 students. Our school is like a second home and family to all of us.

My Project

My students will be using the dry erase boards daily to share their thinking and problem solving skills throughout each math lesson. As apart of ESR (Every Student Response), I will be able to assess student learning. Students will also be able to share their work with their peers visually, while explaining their process orally. These materials will be helpful and also time savers. We will be saving trees by using less paper!

Your generosity will improve my instruction and student learning.

The students will be actively engaged in each lesson and I will be able to pinpoint students who may need extra support and that all students are participating and receiving the most out of daily instruction. These students are below their grade level in Math and cannot afford any time to be wasted.
