Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My art students strive daily to make phenomenal pieces of artwork with what limited supplies we have.

Painting and using the appropriate tools such as an easel is one of the many ways I try my best to give my students the opportunity to explore Art.

My art students come from all levels of abilities and socioeconomic statuses in 6th, 7th and 8th grade in a large urban city.

Space at our class tables can be very restricting when painting with a full class. Using easels while painting has many benefits for art students. Easels will improve my students' range of motion and posture while painting and drawing. Easels help to establish an artist's space and allow for faster and easier setup and clean-up times. This will allow for more class time. Finally, easels will also help my students avoid the effects of perspective on their artwork and speed up their drawing. The upright angle of an easel allows students to spend less time correcting their paintings.

I would love the chance to provide easels for each of my art students and give them the feel of a real art studio.

My Project

Painting is a very beloved and important unit in our curriculum and students look forward to it every year. Students enjoy learning the various techniques and skills needed to understand and apply the medium. Having easels will improve their ability to create paintings that showcase their learning.

In my experience, when students are given quality supplies, tools, and materials; they try their very best.

Having easels will create a sense of artistic space, improve the flow of our class time and enhance their ability to create artwork without a distorted perspective.
