My 4th grade students love to learn through many different modalities! Close to half the students in our building come from non-traditional families/homes. We have a high population of students with families that have low economic backgrounds and receive free and reduced breakfast/lunches.
I want my 4th graders to have a variety of learning experiences to create life long learners.
To help make my vision possible, my classroom needs resources that are unable to be provided through our school district. The Pop to Win math games will give my students learning opportunities to play with other classmates using not only math skills but interpersonal skills. Each student will have a math journal to work, solve, and explain multistep story problems. They will be able to keep track of progress and growth all in one place. Donors like you, can help my students engage in meaningful learning opportunities.
My Project
These journals and math games will help my students strengthen their Problem-solving skills. Problem-solving skills are part of 21 first century learning, and should be a very real part of the curriculum. It involves students to take ownership for their learning, increase effort to solve problems, discuss options, and focus on thinking as a vital element of the curriculum.
It provides students with opportunities to use their newly acquired knowledge in meaningful, real-life activities, and assists them in working at higher levels of thinking .
These materials will provide my students with low economic background with supplies and cooperative learning experiences to increase their math skills.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
