This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing. We are a high poverty urban school. Many of my students are first generation Americans. The students are talented and love to learn and create. Their parents are unusually supportive, participating however they can.

Although my students would be considered economically disadvantaged, they are some of the greatest kids I have ever taught.

I want to give them so much but I am limited by the miniscule budget that my school has budgeted for art supplies. If I do not get donations or provide supplies myself, all I can purchase with my school budget is a half a sheet of paper per student each week.

These students are so deserving of a quality art education. Who knows what these children could achieve given the proper tools to support them.

My Project

Our students are creative learners and we have an exciting school year planned for them including school-wide arts integration activities. We are hoping to get some Model Magic Clay to create three dimensional work in the art room. Model Magic is a very cool material to work with because it is relatively clean and it does not need a kiln or oven to complete. This would be the perfect way for my youngest students to get experience with clay techniques.

This year we are planning many arts integration activities in our school that are designed to enhance learning across the curriculum and it would be so awesome if you could help us with your donation so we can purchase some Model Magic Clay.

In the past I have used Model Magic primary colors as a preview to painting to have students experience color mixing. The children remember which primary colors create secondary colors and how complimentary colors mix to create brown. It is incredibly exciting for them!
