My students need a variety of book titles to complete their wish list for their library collection. I am a firm believer that children will read if they have books that they like.
We are a K-12 School of 1650 amazing children. We are a Charter school which means we receive roughly 65 cents to every dollar that a regular public school receives. For us, this means that libraries do not get funded unless the funds are raised.
Our students represent every socio-economic background possible.
They are a true image of the American Tapestry. Each child has a different perspective but every one of them has a relationship with reading that needs nurturing. These children love their library program and feel very invested in the collection.
My Project
Our collection grows every year through the generosity of people like you. The students check out books every week and they LOVE when I tell them that we have received new titles. The library provides them both pleasure reading and informational reading. This project is helping the students acquire the titles THEY requested for pleasure reading. Thank you!
To inspire the imagination and develop that relationship with reading in a child is the best gift you can give.
Readers are the most successful people because reading teaches you how to understand humanity. A library curriculum that is engaging will impact children for years and years like no other resource can.
