Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are often a transient group, sometimes attending multiple schools in the same year. They come from diverse backgrounds, often with poverty and other challenges. Because of this, my students know the importance of having grit.

They show how far grit and passion can go with how hard they work to keep our schools open and safe after the pandemic.

Despite being woefully behind in most subjects, my students continue to put forth effort and embrace the new challenges. When given the right opportunities and support, there's nothing they can't do.

My Project

With a die cutting machine and materials, students will have access to creating and using manipulatives to help them master multiple content standards such as ELA RL9.4, ELA RL9.10, ELA RI9.8, ELA W9.5, ELA SL9.1, ELA SL9.4, ELA L9.1, ELA L9.2, ELA L9.3, ELA L9.5, and ELA L9.6. Students will have physical items to touch and move around as they work to understand the parts of a sentence, different language functions, different writing functions, and character development throughout stories.

Additionally, the supplies requested will help students with learning loss and anxiety, find a unique outlet for both their fidgeting and showing content mastery.
