This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning is Fun! I love to enhance my students' learning by creating games for them to play with their classmates. Unfortunately, the materials that I currently have lack motivation for my students.

My students come from various social economic backgrounds.

My students come from low income family. They come from homes where parents are in the home, trying their best to raise their children in a neighborhood that has gang related problems daily. There are students that don't have either parent and are either with a foster family or with a relative. Either way, they come to class eager to learn, which is why I wouldn't want anything more but to enhance their excitement for education through games and materials.

My Project

A typical math lesson in my class would be a motivational opener that would tap into their prior knowledge and get them excited with today's math lesson. Then the meat of the lesson would begin. I love to follow up with this whole group lesson to small group work or independent practice. This is the time students get to add on to their learning by playing games or using the materials in the classroom. Students need engaging material to enhance their learning. Games and materials excite students! Therefore, having fraction cubes, place value cubes, foam dice are ways to engage them. The end result are students who are having fun, enjoying school and learning vital tools that will help them become independent learners.

The impact that you will have on my students is vital.

The most challenging part of teaching is motivating my students to want to learn. If I could engage them with these materials and materials, then I could get them to become excited with their own learning. That is the most rewarding part of teaching is seeing your students excited about their own learning.
