Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

By the end of the 4th grade, African-American, Hispanic and low-income students are already two years behind grade level. By the time they reach the 12th grade they are four years behind. Pre-kindergarten programs are a promising way to reduce adult poverty in this country.

My students are amazing little explorers who are not only filled with energy but with a desire to learn.

I work at a low socioeconomic school in TX. The neighborhood my students live in is one of the toughest in the city. My school is a safe haven for many of my students. School is not only somewhere they come to learn but a place where they feel safe and loved.

My Project

Pre-K students need hands-on materials to help engage their learning. Tactile alphabets, nursery rhyme puppets, math manipulatives and puzzles will help me provide my students with the education they deserve and need. Children do their best work when they are encouraged to actively explore and interact with any hands-on learning process. With the right manipulative's, skills such as memory retention, reading, motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and learning awareness become enhanced and improved.

Many of my students do not have a variety of learning experiences outside of the classroom.

Any donation to my project will be an asset to my students. As a teacher I have learned that children are more likely to develop skills when they are having fun, but also when the skills have meaning for them; hands-on learning aims to provide for both of these characteristics of learning. Help me make a difference in my students' lives. Thank you.
