My Students
My school serves students in grades K-6 and provides rigorous academics, exceptional teachers, and a safe learning environment for all students. My class consists of 15 awesome students with mild learning disabilities. We are part of a STEAM school and the only science magnet school in our district.
My students have a lifetime of learning ahead of them and many obstacles to face as they learn and grow as individuals.
This group of students are the next generation of innovators, investigators and experimenters! I am looking forward to helping them discover their full potential and achieve all that they can do.
My Project
Our students are living in the 21st century where learning is now more hands on. Virtual reality is now a cutting edge tool that can be used in the classroom to help students achieve a whole other level of interactive learning. Virtual reality will bring experiences to the students that they can only read about in a textbook.
As a Special Education Teacher, I realize how much benefits there is for bringing our curriculum to life in ways previously unimaginable through the use of virtual and augmented reality experiences.
From visiting places in their social studies book, to experiencing science in the palm of their hands, The Oculus Go will provide my students with interactive learning they would otherwise never have the opportunity to experience. This will, in turn, help them truly engage in their learning in the nontraditional format that they have so much difficulty with.
I hope to use this tool to deliver highly engaging lessons that will bring all the world has to offer right to my classroom. I will also be able to teach my students to create and share their own virtual reality and augmented reality content that demonstrates mastery of their core curriculum standards.
