Making it Work with Storyworks!

My students need Storyworks so they can read compelling texts while participating in collaborative groups. They will be challenged with higher-level questioning to fit their needs.

My Students

I wish everyone reading this could come and visit my 5th grade classroom. My students LOVE learning! My students are bright, energetic, and eager to learn! We are a Title I school where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My students are full of life with a yearning to learn.

Each student is unique and different. The first step in a learning journey begins with a spark of curiosity. Scholastic's fascinating, important stories ignite a sense of wonder, whether it's in nonfiction, fiction, drama, poetry, or a surprising text pairing. The magazine exposes students to short, interesting articles about relevant topics that keep them engaged and culturally connected.

The families at my school work hard to provide the best care for their child. It is my responsibility to provide the best way to fit their learning needs. My goal is to provide differentiation for students below or above level, as well as my English-language learners.

My Project

My students need 22 subscriptions to Storyworks magazine to help improve their understanding of non-fiction materials. We will use the Storyworks magazine in small groups and whole group lessons. Students will read and have group discussions on current events. Storyworks will help them find details allowing them to apply it to other subjects, such as science and social studies.

Donations to our project will allow my students to be able to read current events and improve the reading comprehension levels of all students in my class.

My students will feel more confident in their reading abilities and become more aware of current events.
