Making History Meaningful to Young Minds.

Help me give my students books about history and social issues. These books will help my students gain insight about important historical issues, and allow them to understand the dangers and sacrifices of our past.

My Students

My 7th grade students come from a variety of backgrounds with various educational needs. Some students flourish in the advanced and honors class while others students find the curriculum too challenging. I want to make Language Arts fun and more accessible to all of my students.

I want to make learning accessible to all students by encouraging literature experiences that will advance their intellect and knowledge.

The variety of students in my class includes English Language Learner students, students with learning differences (LD), average, smart and gifted students. Half of our students are on free and reduced lunch and can not afford to buy the resources they need to enrich their education.

My Project

Our students need practice reading, comprehending and discussing civic and historical issues to prepare them for their social studies related writing prompt at the end of this year. This writing prompt and reading passage will be important to the advancement of students and influence their placement in coursed for the following year. Students who have not interacted with this type of text will be at a severe disadvantage to those who have had time and guidance to study this type of literature.

These two books will help my students understand the dangers, hardships and social issues that built our nation.

Students of today need more educational instruction about where we came from, and what sacrifices and decisions led to the country they call home.
