My Students
My awesome eighth grade U.S. History students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! We are a diverse Title I school with lots of different groups of students. They come to school each day ready to try new things and reach their highest potential. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Each child in my classroom loves learning.
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. I try to make history come alive for them as they study from the framing of the Constitution to the Industrial Revolution. Most of my students have not been on a field trip since they've been in middle school.
My Project
Students engage in the state-of-the-art interactive exhibits that expose the dynamics of prejudice and discrimination historically and today. Student witness history they journey through the Holocaust exhibit and receive a photo passport card of a child whose life was changed by the Holocaust.
It's time to make history come alive as they study the Holocaust, tolerance, racism and religious intolerance.
No one who ever goes to the Museum can ever just be a bystander again.
The Museum of Tolerance is an experiential one-of-a-kind center where students are privileged to be able to hear first-hand the eye-witness testimony from Holocaust survivors. Students bring their experiences of empathy, tolerance and compassion back to the classroom and school changing the entire campus culture.
