Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students come from low-income families and 94% receive free or reduced lunch. Every student takes math, physical education, science, English, and history. I'm fortunate to work with students that have incredible self-determination and grit, given the limited amount of resources they have at home and in their community.
Our students show incredible perseverance, tenacity, courage, and the will to be resilient through adversity.
My Project
Physical activity has been one of the areas hit hardest with the sudden school closures. This makes it difficult for students to practice healthy habits with the equipment and resources they have at home. These resistance cables will provide our students with a Physical Education class that will allow students to engage in fitness activities from home, build strength, and release energy to focus during classes.
The benefits of this project include better overall health, preventing injury, and having fun while exercising at home.
The goal is for me to teach my students different exercises, activities, and routines using the resistance bands. I will introduce my students to different parts of the muscular system and how we can strengthen and improve the body while using this equipment.
During these difficult times I will teach students healthy habits, so they can have a better quality of life from home. I emphasize fitness, a balanced nutrition, and safety with all my students and these resistance cables will provide my students with a fun and engaging Physical Education class.
