My Students
My students love learning through hands-on activites that they see real-life applications in. The majority of my students are seniors in high school and preparing for life after graduation. I love their eagerness to learn about topics they can directly apply to their lives. I have found that my students learn best from simulations and interactive activities. I would like to provide more opportunities for them to engage in these types of activities.
My students are looking forward to becoming financially independent and successful in their adult lives.
My classes are the only financial literacy concurrent enrollment sections offered at our high school. The amount of seniors choosing to take this class for college credit is growing tremendously. They want to take advantage of the opportunity to earn college credit while in high school, which is not only admirable but wise.
Most of my students are looking to continue their education by attending a college or university. Others plan on attending a technical college and earning a certficate in a specialized trade. This class not only teaches wise financial habits but also prepares them for post-secondary education and careers.
My Project
The Dave Ramsey's ACT Your Wage! board game that I'm requesting will support the hands-on learning environment in the financial literacy classes that I've created. This is a subject that many students can find boring, which is why I have made it my mission to make it engaging and applicable to their personal lives. I do a lot of activities so that the students can implement the concepts they are learning in class. The Dave Ramsey's ACT Your Wage! board game would be a fabulous addition to my class activities because it simulates real life and allows them to practice the seven baby steps that Dave Ramsey teaches. Each game can host four players. I have around 36 to 40 students per class, therefore, I need 10 sets to accommodate all of my students.
These materials and supplies will increase the level of involvement in my classes.
I am also requesting 35 sets of headphones to use with our classroom set of Chromebooks. My students work through different modules each week that include short videos to watch and games to play. They need headphones so that they can hear the videos and fully engage in the activities without disturbing each other.
