This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This next school year, I am so excited to be teaching sheltered science to 6th graders who have recently immigrated to the United States! Many of these students have little to no background with English and many have had interrupted schooling in their home language. The goal of this course is to help accelerate students learning English through science.
By donating to this project, you will be helping these newcomer students access English in an engaging and accessible way.
Visuals and hands-on learning are some of the most important tools when it comes to learning English. The color printer will allow me to constantly provide students with images that can enhance understanding and help develop vocabulary, without having to pay to get things printed.
These students deserve to have every resource available to them as they are experiencing the US school system for the first time. They deserve to have high-quality learning materials and tools that are so often not provided for students like them. This project is just a small way to help give these students the chance that they deserve.
