Making Distance Learning Not So Distant!

Help me give my students this Apple iPad that would be greatly beneficial for teaching new math content through digital learning as well as making reference videos for students when we return back to school full time.

My Students

Saying goodbye to my students on that Friday in March, seemed like a regular Friday before a weekend. Little did I know I would not see them again in person and the school would close for the remainder of the school year. It was all just so unbelievable.

My students made the switch to distance learning quite easily and they worked so hard!

They are an energetic and creative bunch and took distance learning on as a new challenge! I was worried some of their unique personalities might not show in our Zoom meetings, but I was so wrong! They still contributed and participated with their own sense of style and uniqueness. Even my more shy students in the classroom were at ease and showed a new comfort level in participating with their peers.

My Project

Since March, when our school moved to distance learning, I have been teaching second grade math and reading content using a standard HP laptop. It is a nice laptop, but teaching new math content by "writing" all math content on Zoom with a mouse was very difficult. Many times I would have to erase all my work and start over because my students could not read it. This new tablet that comes with a stylus would make writing math content for my students to see much, much easier. The stylus will allow me to highlight key parts of the text and write on the passage. Teaching writing and editing skills was very difficult using a mouse.
