My Students
My kids all have Autism at different levels and have different needs, but they all need to feel safe, comfortable and happy. I try each day to make sure the needs of all my kids are met while teaching core skills through art and music.
My kids are in middle school and I have both girls and boys.
They love to go outside and we dance to start and end our days. Music and art are incorporated into everything we do because the kids really shine int those areas. I want to empower my students through art and help them strengthen their reading and math skills. We have created a great little community here and I want to insure the students have what they need. My Project
The beanbag chairs are so important for students with Autism - they use this space to bring art to life and focus on sensory issues. So rather then always using school chairs they can take a break and relax in a bean bag chair. Headphones are used to bring our music into their ears. Students use this music to inspire their creations. They use audio books to learn a story, and then use the art supplies to bring that story to life. The magna tiles will be used to make their creations even more exciting!
I believe everyone should be able to go to "work" and feel comfortable.
School is their job and they are entitled to a comfortable environment. We work hard with the students to teach life skills and knowing they can relax will make it a better day for all of my students.
