My students are English Language Learners who attend a suburban elementary school in Washington. They come from various cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds, many of them receive free or reduced-price lunch, and many parents struggle to provide basic necessities for their kids.
My students might speak different languages at home, but share a love of learning at school.
They want to be successful and strive to do their best. My mission is to help them achieve their goals with the resources and support they need.
My Project
My students need fun and educational games, such as The Allowance, ATM Action,Saving and Spending, and Main Street Shopping, to learn more about financial literacy and develop important functional skills for real life.
My students will boost their language and social skills while developing their knowledge about economics using these hands-on activities.
These games will teach them to prioritize, understand wants and needs, and simple budgeting. We also need a rolling cart to keep our games neatly organized and easily accessible. Learning about financial literacy is really important for our students to be successful in school and beyond. These skills will have long lasting impact on their lives.
