This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Who remembers going to the library, and choosing a book that you were really excited to read?
My students are first graders who are just discovering a love of books and reading.
While they all love discovering new books, and figuring out what interests them, many are only able to do that in our classroom library, and our school library. Many of my students don't have access to books at home, and are reliant on the library in our classroom to foster that love of reading.
My Project
I am requesting two mobile book organizers so I can better organize the books in my classroom library. Currently, the books in my classroom library are organized in plastic bins, but the books are turned sideways in the bin, which makes it hard for students to access them. These mobile book organizers are identical to the book organizers in the school library. Students would be able to clearly see the books, which will make it easier for them to choose a title that interests them. They will also be able to put books back more easily, which will keep the classroom library more organized.
Your donations will help my students better choose book titles that interest them.
In the long run, this will foster an interest and a love of reading, and will help create life-long readers, which is, ultimately, my goal.
