My classroom is called the Capitol of Creativity where students are given opportunities to use their visual voice to express their lives, experiences and develop skills to be creative makers.
Our diverse student population speaks over 50 different languages at home and joins together to create our diverse school community.
We believe that our school is a place where learning has no limits and together we work for the success of all. Students are guided to SOAR to new heights in our school by maintaining a SAFE school where students can be OUTSTANDING, ACT respectfully and be RESPONSIBLE.
I want to empower students through art and history. In our history class, we are focussing on how printmaking and symbols were used by major historical figures to identify themselves, specifically leading up to conflicts. Students will be learning about traditional relief printmaking techniques through creating their own carved printing block. Through the project the students will learn about printmaking inks, registration, editions and how to properly label their prints for display.
Students will learn about printmaking artists throughout history and to contemporary artists printing on a variety of materials.
Our students long for opportunities to be creative and learn about new ways to create beyond crayons and paper.
Giving students exposure to diverse ways to create will help students to appreciate contemporary printed materials and the technology that first brought books/illustrations into the hands of people over 500 years ago.
