This school year, I am teaching five classes of ninth graders, approximately one hundred and thirty students at all reading levels. My students will be working on their reading and writing skills in our language arts classes. We are a Title I school, meaning we have a high concentration of children from low-income families. I have amazing students who are working hard to be successful readers and writers. I strive to help my students see the potential within themselves and become the best possible version of themselves they can be. My goal is to have my students leave my classroom not just educationally prepared, but socially and emotionally prepared to thrive in the real world.
Sometimes teachers need extra help to help make our practice more meaningful in the classroom.
The three books in this project will be used to help strengthen my reading, writing, and grammar teaching strategies for my students to help make them stronger in all areas of English-Language Arts. I will use these books as a personal professional development to strengthen the lessons I teach so that my students become even more successful on in-class assignments and assessments to help prepare them for the upper grades of high school and potentially college.
More than half of students from low‑income households
