Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I have the pleasure of working with a group of highly enthusiastic 4 and 5 year olds that love to learn. My students deserve the best high quality early childhood education so they can build a foundation to be successful in the years to come. My students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and most are English Language Learners. Our school is a Title 1 school with 100% free and reduced lunch.
The global pandemic has greatly impacted my students’ social and emotional learning skills.
The majority of my students were isolated during the pandemic and are needing to develop social skills, including how to play and interact with others. This project is designed to fill these educational gaps and will set them up for success by providing engaging hands on learning opportunities in all centers. By adding the wooden letter tracers, the wooden number tracers as well as the number counting pegs in our math and writing center will provide students many opportunities to work and collaborate together. Adding in the different types of blocks to our construction area will increase creativity, problem solving, and collaborative team work. The tabletop easels and journals will provide many opportunities for the students to develop creativity, social, emotional and communication skills.
