Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach self-contained special class and integrated co-teaching class (ICT) in the Bronx. Some students in the ICT class are also English language learners.
We just did our Diagnostic Test and most of my students are functioning way below 6th grade level, lowest level at kindergarten.
The teaching kit and flash cards will help improve my students' reading skills. Learning grade level curriculum is challenging if the students are struggling to read independently. This is one of the many steps that we have to make to close the huge gap in reading.
We will use these materials during our 20 minutes guided reading or small group instruction. These materials are engaging ways to improve their reading skills.
