My Project
Teaching Kindergarten students to define and classify 3-D shapes is a challenge. Their minds can not fully understand the concept of 3-D objects using paper.
I plan to use modeling clay to help the students build various 3-D shapes, such as cubes (using tooth picks), spheres, cylinders and various other 3-D shapes.
Students are able to connect with a project by using hands-on materials. Making these 3-D shapes, step by step, allows them to physically relate to the concept that I am teaching. Their minds remember the “cool” shapes (especially the cube) that they made. They want to show their magical 3D creation to everyone!
This classroom project was brought to life by a local family foundation
and one other donor.
