Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a classroom filled with little kids eager to learn but do not always have the resources to help them reach their full potential. I teach students with special needs and this means that I must always be flexible with finding different ways of teaching. This could mean I need to use technology, playing equipment, manipulatives, and even things such as different writing utensils (ex. Markers, pencils, pens, and even chalk)
The success of my children is my biggest inspiration!
I hope for them to have as many experiences as they can because some may never be able to experience things outside of school.
My Project
These magnetic math manipulatives will give my students with various learning needs the ability to develop a variety of mathematical skills in counting & cardinality, operations & algebraic thinking, and number & operations in base 10 through hands on learning. While working and colaborating alongside their peers to also help build social skills.
My students will be more engaged in their math work and less disruptive of their peers when they are having a great time working together and learning at the same time!
My students with disabilities will also develop skills in place value and comparing two-digit and three-digit numbers ensuring that they will have the same learning opportunities as their general education peers. This will make math learning fun and engaging!
