This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are future engineers, designers and entrepreneurs. They are makers who love to design and develop their ideas to help solve problems in the world. They are artists who love to draw, paint, build and perform. At our middle school in Jamaica Queens, some of our students may not have access to technology at home. We want to make sure our students know that there is no limit to what they can do when they work hard and believe in themselves.
My Project
Our next unit in our computer science class is all about games and coding. I want to give my students the opportunity to create physical games. Makey Makey will help my students use circuits to create interactive games for our school community to play.
Students will create surveys, use statistics and design thinking to create interactive arcade games.
They will determine what type of games the school community like the best and then will be able to create games using Scratch and Makey Makey. All of my students have told me that they like doing hands on activities and I can't wait to see what they make with Makey Makey.
