My Students
My students are scientists, designers, engineers, artists, coders, and problem solvers. Using their minds in and out of the classroom to accomplish their goals is important to them.
My students need opportunities to fail so that they can pick themselves up and attain true success.
The diverse nature of my class shows that not all students learn in the same way. Each child brings unique strengths to the classroom. My students are capable of great things, but need to be pushed further to reach their full potential.
My Project
Every spring, our school hosts a STREAM Night to engage our students' families in science, technology, reading, engineering, arts, and math. The eighth grade students are responsible for creating a Makey Makey interactive room for the younger students.
Students use the Makey Makey invention kits to create an interactive experience.
The Makey Makey turns everyday objects into touchpads so paired with the internet, the possibilities are endless. A few examples of previous inventions include a banana keyboard, a photo booth, a dance mat, an operation game, and interactive story books. Student creativity drives the project and using the circuitry of the Makey Makey allows the project to become interactive. The students enjoy showing off their creations at the STREAM Night event.
