My Project
I serve as a Future Ready Librarian at a new Title I middle school. We have about 1,200 students, ranging from sixth grade to eighth grade, with over 72% coming from low-income backgrounds. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) projects are examples of project-based learning. STEM projects guide students in strengthening their inquiry, communication, and critical thinking skills. These activities also support their SEL development because they encourage the student's creativity, collaboration, teamwork skills, confidence, innovation, motivation, perseverance, and risk-taking.
My students need access to a well-stocked Makerspace that includes a variety of STEM-building activities and resources, provides project-based learning opportunities, and encourages self-directed creation.
Our newly remodeled Library includes a brand new Makerspace and we need resources such as storage containers to organize our supplies, various supplies, and more for our students to utilize. My students love creating, building, and taking things apart, so they need a variety of STEM resources to support their project-based learning activities and lessons. They need a rolling cart, so they can easily access their resources to explore and satisfy their curiosity about the world around them! They need these STEM supplies to use with their project-based learning experiences.
