My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are my inspiration!
Our school is in a very rural part of Ohio.
We are surrounded by many corn fields and church steeples. This is what shapes our hardworking student body!
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although their learning styles vary. To meet the needs of all our students, we incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, alternative seating, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met! This year, we are opening our very first Makerspace, a space for students to go to be creative, learn that failure is okay, and build on their strengths. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My Project
Having Spheros in our Makerspace will be a part of our students learning to code and program a robot. This is an important skill for students in the twenty first century, as we are preparing them for jobs that are brand new or have not been created yet. With coding knowledge, many of our students can get high paying jobs even without a college education. For some, it will give them an opportunity to understand how robots work and how they are impacting our world. Students may use Spheros to code the path of the Silk Road, code the path of a delivery to a teacher's classroom to mimic the robots that Amazon is using, or code the Sphero through a path across the nation - with stops to give facts. Spheros are a tool our students can use to prepare them for the future of our world.
