My Project

I am seeking donations to begin a 'Makers Library' at my school! The COVID-19 pandemic forced school closures and taught everyone how important it is for students and teachers to have a strong foundation in technology! These supplies will be used to create a library of technology/STEM bins that teachers and students can check out and use in their classrooms. As a Gifted teacher, I have been fortunate enough to have the flexibility to include technology in my daily lessons and have seen the way adding technology like green screens has sparked interest and engaged my students. My goal is to bring this to our entire student body. When students are engaged they become invested in their learning. My goal is for the students at my school to become as invested in their learning as possible as they combat their learning loss from the pandemic in their ELA/Math courses by integrating STEM and technology learning. The COVID-19 pandemic not only brought focus on the importance of individuals being fluent in technology, but it also created severe learning gaps in the core areas of reading/writing and math. Post-pandemic classrooms have a strong focus on these important subject areas in order to close the gap, however, this is coming with a decrease in areas like science, engineering, and technology. The pandemic also taught us how important STEM careers are for the functionality of our society. Students must keep up with the latest advancements in technology and practice hands-on activities in order to become adults who can fluently navigate a world that is constantly advancing our technological capabilities. Your donation will help spark interest and excitement in the students and teachers at my school as we combat pandemic learning loss and begin the process of creating a makers library.
