This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Kindergarten is the start of so many exciting adventures! For many students, it's their first full day in school, and the first time they may play outside on the 'big' playground! It's such a fun year, and my students are ready to seize every moment and learn in every way possible!
That being said, their favorite way to learn is through hands-on activities that allow them to grow as independent learners!
My students are fans of any activity that allows them to collaborate with friends, experiment, and problem-solve!
The majority of my students are English Language Learners, and about 85% receive free or reduced lunch. My students go above and beyond daily, and their desire to learn is inspiring.
My Project
My students are naturally inquisitive about the world around them. Maker Spaces will them to investigate and explore by way of hands-on, engaging project-based learning activities!
The activities they complete in our Maker Space will enable them to solve real-world problems while simultaneously developing their critical thinking and creative thinking skills.
These items will help promote independence in each of my students and encourage teamwork as they collaborate with one another! Maker Space supplies directly align with our district science curriculum creating a powerful transfer of learning and a sense of independence! At the same time, while using items like LEGO bricks and Magnet Tiles to build, my students will also be learning to work together collaboratively!
The flexible seating options will allow my students to independently select a place to work that is comfortable to them. It will allow our classroom to feel like home.
