My Students

My students are scientists, designers, engineers, artists, coders, and problem solvers. Being able to use their minds in and out of the classroom to accomplish their goals is important.

My students need opportunities to fail so that they can pick themselves up and attain true success.

The diverse nature of my class shows that not all students learn in the same way. Each child brings unique strengths to the classroom. My students are capable of great things, but need to be pushed further to reach their full potential.

My Project

Every student is unique and needs the time to explore making in their own way. In our class, students explore different STEM materials in order to find out what they are capable of doing. Students become experts in different technologies or skills and are able to teach their classmates how to overcome challenges with these materials.

Makers Monday allows students to become real world problem solvers while creating masterpieces of their choosing.

The iPad will be used in conjunction with Bloxels, Legos, or a green screen to showcase their knowledge. During this block of time, students are able to focus on the materials that interest them the most and learn real-world skills.

Learning how to learn in a constructive way is my goal for these students. I want them to struggle through the learning of something different and hard. These activities are not about completing an assignment for the teacher, it is about trying to learn something new. I want every student to love learning and the traditional classroom is not always inviting to all. With Makers Mondays, it give students an alternate setting to realize that learning can be enjoyable.
