My Project
I am very honored to teach a remarkable group of second-grade students at our school. Our class is comprised of children with autism and other learning and behavioral needs. In our quest to provide these exceptional young minds with a holistic and enriching education, we are seeking your support for a unique and exciting project that combines learning and creativity.
Our endeavor involves introducing an economics unit, where students will delve into the concepts of producers, consumers, goods, and services, culminating in the creation of their very own class store.
We will be using our school's "caught-ya cash" for our currency. The students will "purchase" the supplies they need, make the project, and resell the final product to our office staff and related services staff. The students will be able to use their profits to purchase fun trinkets and items from our "caught-ya store".
The focal point of our project is to empower our students through hands-on experiences that go beyond traditional classroom learning. The primary objective of this project is to provide the necessary supplies for our second-grade students to engage in a variety of hands-on activities. The polyester fill will be used in fleece pillows. The E600, magnets, googly eyes and glass beads will be used to create bug magnets. The students will make and package slime with the activator, slime add-ins, and containers. The clothespins will make worry dolls. Bracelets and keychains will be made using the elastic string, lobster clasps, and tassels.
These activities will allow them to create unique items that they can later sell at their class store. The experience will not only enhance their understanding of economic principles but also provide them with opportunities to develop essential life skills.
