My Students

My marine science research students gather data in the field with an underwater remotely operated vehicle. We work with the Sheriff's Department and use their side scan sonar to image the ocean floor. We use GIS to make maps of our study area and analyze our data for oceanographic projects.

Clark Magnet High School is a Science and Technology Magnet that has earned the honor of being designated a National Blue Ribbon School and a California Distinguished School.

We are also a Title-One Academic Achievement School. Most of our students come from immigrant families, with English being their second language. Our students choose to come to Clark for the opportunities we provide. We offer cutting edge technological programs that no other school in our district has attempted to teach at the high school level. Geographic Information Science and Computer Assisted Design are two unique examples. We also offer Introduction to Engineering, Cinematography, Robotics, computer programing and Animation.

My Project

A MakerBot 3D printer will bring student 3D geographic information science projects to life. We would love to be able to print 3D relief maps of our study areas to help showcase our program when we present at conferences. Our students also use computer assisted design software to model structures. A 3D printer would be very useful for hands-on learning, giving students the opportunity to produce an actual model of their project that they can touch and share with family and friends. With a MakerBot printer, my students will learn to integrate different technologies together to create amazing projects they will all enjoy.

Allowing students to produce innovative projects with a 3D printer will inspire students to pursue higher learning in the areas of CAD and GIS.

A MakerBot printer will enhance the career technical education courses at our school and will help plant the seeds of success for our students.
