This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help bring my students into the 21 century with 3D printing technology! This exciting new technology would both fascinate my students and motivate them to take part in project based learning in the classroom.
Although my students are young, they are very bright and love projects and learning tasks that involve hands-on materials.
The class consists of students that are learning English for the first time, students that have learning disabilities and require special services, and typical learning students. Our school is a high poverty level school, with a large percentage of students that qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. The children are dreamers, problem solvers, and love to work together in social situations.
My Project
Makerbot has partnered with DonorsChoose in an effort to bring 3D printing technology to public schools. If funded, the 3D printer bundle that I am requesting will be a first for our school, perhaps even for our district. Working with technology such as a 3D printer will be a new and exciting experience for my students.
I would like my students to be given the chance to combine art with science, math and technology. They love creative play toys, and the first project we would do would be to create their own toy. As a group, we would talk about the project and use thinking maps to brainstorm ideas. Then, each student would design their own toy, using their imaginations to think up details to go into their design. After printing out the toys and taking time to play with them, the students would write about their experience.
Once the printer is at our school and we become proficient at using it, there will be more projects to come. Please help us to bring this printer to our classroom!
Makerbot is offering to help fund 3D printers in public schools.
With your donation, you will be helping to make this dream come true for my students! Thank you for taking time to read and consider helping us!
