it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Libraries are not only for books today. Libraries are a place where kids can come to be creative and use their imagination.
I am the librarian at a gifted and talented academy with approximately 450 students.
These students come from various backgrounds, some speaking two languages and some from low socio-economic homes. Each student is gifted or talented academically, musically, or artistically. They each are unique and strive on using their imagination. My students need the opportunities to build, create, collaborate, and imagine during school.
My Project
The littleBits electronic circuit makers, Washi tape, GoldieBlox, scissors, LEGO book, origami books, tapeffiti caddy, pipe cleaners, a marble maze kit, and other resources I am requesting will be used by all students in the school during library time, or various times of the day. The school will also incorporate an after school Maker Club for interested students. Some of these materials will encourage students interested in engineering, such as the littleBits circuit kits. Students will be able to build circuits that move motors or light up light bulbs, for example. The materials, such as Legos, will also be used to build bridges and towers for challenges. I have also included materials for students to make crafts, such as jewelry, bookmarks, and origami. Included in my request are books to give students ideas; however, the things students can create with the materials will be limitless.
The Makerspace materials will provide numerous activities where the students can create and build physical things in the library.
Your donation will provide over 400 students the opportunity to design, create, invent, and build.
The students will be deeply engaged in science, technology, and arts. You can help me provide my students with the opportunity to be involved in creation and innovation!
