My Students
Keep our heart beat going strong and fast! My kids need jump ropes of different styles and lengths.
These students live in a the projects.
Getting outside to play in a safe environment with equipment is not an option. Often when I drive through their neighborhood they are playing with sticks, fallen wires, or anything they can find laying around (which could get very dangerous). I am asking for jump ropes they can use at school, and borrow to take home, to play with outside and stay physically fit and active instead of on the couch playing video games or watching TV.
My Project
I wanted to start a jump rope club with the older students, I was very disappointed when I asked the PE teacher to use their jump ropes and he said they didn't have any. What elementary school doesn't even have jump ropes?! I am looking for jump ropes that will be used at first for 4th and 5th grade students in a physical fitness club. Then will be used by all the students in the school during PE class time. The students home lives are more conducive to video games, TV, and being couch potato's. I am going to have a club that encourages exercise, fitness, and keeping your heart rate going and your body moving. Jump rope introduces students to a variety of fun activities to help get (or keep) students in shape and healthy.
One of my best memories from elementary school was playing jump rope at recess with my classmates and the jump rope contest on field day and.
Jumping rope is something everyone can do and can also teach teamwork. Please help me introduce this exciting world of jump rope to my fitness club as well as the rest of the school this year and for years to come. I just don't think it's elementary school without jump ropes out on the playground!
