it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Zoooooooom. This very excited group of 2nd graders had high hopes of attending class in person this Fall. To be with their friends, listen to stories, have science class, play together at recess. Well, that's not exactly how it is this year.
Since Monday, August 17, 2020, this amazing group of kids has shown up early to Zoom each day eager to learn, make friends and have fun.
When asked what makes school an exciting place to learn, the number one answer is being together. They have been patient while I pull together technology to make this the best virtual year possible.
My Project
A typical day in my virtual classroom begins with a Daily Read Aloud of engaging 2nd grade literature. They gather around on my virtual screen, excited to hear the story of the day and then, a glitch. I have my most engaging teacher voice on, they are all focused...except they can't see the pictures...or the words I'm reading. It's one or the other.
With this camera, they don't have to choose between the pictures or the words.
They will have access to the pages as I read them as I'm reading them. In addition, I can bring math games to life, model practice problems without sacrificing text and/or content. This would create the closest experience to a real classroom environment that I can provide these kids this year and moving forward.
