Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
When I first started teaching our brand-new technology was an overhead projector that you had to keep from overheating. The world has changed dramatically when it comes to technology. Every classroom on our new campus will fortunately have a SmartBoard. Unfortunately, we need software to use them.
I teach a very bright and curious bunch of Kindergarteners.
They love learning about anything and everything you are willing to teach them. We are in an area of low economic development, so many do not have access to a lot of educational resources at home. We also have a large ELL population. Many of our families are incredibly supportive but do speak another language at home.
Our school is getting a new campus because our old one is over 80 years old. We are incredibly excited to have access to technologies that were previously unavailable.
My Project
I'm asking for a variety of interactive software the students can manipulate on our new SmartBoards. These kids grew up in an age of movies and video games. They are very digitally-minded. Giving them opportunities to learn about reading, math and science through these methods will help, especially those visual learners. The immediate feedback they get on the answers also means they will be able to learn to work this technology independently.
Help us enter the 21st Century!
We are very excited about our new school and the new amenities we will have. But it also means we need the software to make this new technology work efficiently. This is something I can put up for the whole class or the students can work on in collaborative groups. They will come away from these games with higher-level skills because this is the way kids today learn. You can help us reach that goal.
