This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a small public elementary school in the Bronx, NY. Our school is committed to providing all students with a well-rounded curriculum that engages students in hands on, project based learning as well as developing social skills and building character.

50% of our student population are from low-income families.

We work hard to ensure that economics doesn't get in the way of a quality education. Our students are eager to learn. They need a hand up not a hand out.

My Project

Time for Kids has been a vital resource in my classroom for years. Unfortunately, with budget cuts and less funding allocated to these types of resources many teachers have to foot the bill. Students really enjoy reading these magazines and having rich discussions based on real world events.

Time for Kids brings a global awareness to current events and issues in a kid-friendly way.

In addition, it allows students to practice, reinforce and connect learning to the real world. It touches on social studies and science topics, which sometimes take a back seat to testing. This magazine provides another opportunity to integrate these subjects into daily learning.
