My Students
I work with wonderful high school photographers, editors, designers, and marketing students to create a yearbook in our journalism class. They are some of the most talented and dedicated minds in the school, and I am lucky to have them working on a project to commemorate their high school years. They are in charge of producing the 342-page book, as well as selling their product to the school population.
These bright thinkers and artists hope to expand their knowledge at camp with your help!
My Project
This workshop is the very best way to prepare my journalism students for the arduous work ahead of them. They are tasked with creating a theme, content, and story for the year at this camp. Students spend the rest of the year filling in these stories with pictures, layouts, and articles.
"Yearbook would not be the same without summer camp," one of my students said.
She would know because she is now the Editor-In-Chief after 3 years on staff, and she says she learns something new every year. It is the opportunity for student leaders to attend classes with their newly accepted first-year editors and photographers, as well as an exercise in team-building through the process of creating a preliminary product that is critiqued by consultants of the real-world publication industry.
